$300 for a ‘Street Fighter’ themed chess set?

If you’re going to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Street Fighter you may as well blow a ton of money on a chess set. Right?

“The king of fighting games meets the game of kings” is the tagline that Capcom is using for their upcoming Street Fighter themed chess set.

It’s comprised of highly-detailed silver and pewter-colored resin pieces ranging from 1.75″ to 3.25″ tall, which comes contained in a black wood storage case with polished chrome latch and hinges that has a 18″x18″ smoked and sandblasted glass game board on top.

Hence why the asking price is no chump change: exactly $299.95. The set officially went on sale last weekend at the San Diego Comic Con, where they had exactly 10 units available at the Capcom booth. Each one was sold.
