Bump Pay lets you settle the check digitally
Smartphones have done more to solve a major first world problem than any other form of technology: namely, settling the damn check. Seriously, we’ve all been at a restaurant with a large group, and there’s always the guy who had two beers and an appetizer, the guy who ate two entrees and chugged a keg, and the guy who doesn’t want to tip the waitress because he thinks tips are only for women he has a shot of sleeping with. And none of them brought cash.
That last guy can be taken care of with a beating, but dealing with the other two is difficult. Or it was, until apps like Bump Pay came along.
A spin-off of the Bump app, Bump Pay is pretty straightforward. Sign up for the app with a PayPal account, enter the amount you want to give your friend, have them fire up the Bump Pay app, tap phones and your share of the check goes straight to his PayPal account.
It won’t settle every bar tab dispute, and it’s only on iOS for now, but realistically speaking, it’ll do a lot to make them a thing of the past.
