‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 2′ ad guest stars Iron Man

Matt Hawkins Contributing Writer, Video Games

Well, Robert Downey Jr., the man who plays Iron Man to be exact. Plus plenty of other celebrities as well.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 arrives in less than two weeks. Which means the marketing machine is in full force. Perhaps you’ve seen the following ad on television already? Well here it is, either for the first or 5000th time…

Clearly Activision believes that filling a spot with celebrities galore is the way to sell your game (everyone from real deal famous folk, like Jack Black, to YouTube superstars, like FPSRussia, whom we’ve featured previously). And not, you know, showing what it actually looks like.

Does it speak of strength of just the Call of Duty brand itself, or a lack of confidence in how this latest installment truly is? You be the judge.

Also, the clip above is the perfect combination of two previous spots. The “There’s A Soldier In All Of Us” ad for the first Black Ops

And “The Vet & The n00b” for last year’s Modern Warfare 3
