‘Dead or Alive’ and ‘Tekken’ cinematics are over the top and nonsensical
One of the many things I love about fighting games is their insistence that there’s some semblance of plot to the proceedings. Which both Dead Or Alive 5 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 tries again to demonstrate.
Believe it or not, DoA has an extremely dense backstory, one that I’m not going to bother trying to explain for your people. I also love how even on Wikipedia, where nerds often go all out with every silly little detail, have all thrown their towels in on this one. At least the publisher has produced this handy flowchart (full sized version can be seen here)…
The same goes with Tekken, usually speaking, but not for their Tag Tournament titles. Which has every single character all meeting coming together, regardless of storyline circumstances. So its cinematic trailer is just everyone beating the crap out of each other, or taking cabs to get the arena so they can engage in said virtual fisticuffs…
