Alcoholic slot machine pays out in booze, is just like people who play it

But that’s not what’s important here. What IS important is that a bunch of dudes created a slot machine that dispenses booze while shouting out lines from Fear & Loathing.

A “hacker collective” named NYC Resistor bought a decommissioned  slot machine from Japan via Craiglist (also, oddly, the easiest way to buy drugs and women) and got their hack on, turning the machine into a random robotic bartender.

As I understand it, they basically assigned an ingredient to each of the three slots and whatever combination you end up with, that’s the drink you get. The good news is that they programmed the machine to “stop only on mixes you’d find in a bartender’s manual.”

Additionally, there are a bunch of pressurized containers with the hooch and mixers attached to the side and a computer not only records the results from the slots, but then sends that information to the “bar unit,” where the drink is produced.

Yeah, that’s probably the really simplistic explanation and there are probably more smarty-pants ways of saying it.

But you know what? It produces booze and it screams things like “As your attorney, I advise you to spin!” If it were a woman, I would be in love. But, alas, it’s just a machine. Also, it costs $3,000 and 320 hours to build, which is really just way too much commitment, even for the perfect invention.
