If you’re like a big chunk of America, you rushed out and bought a Nexus 7. Good for you: it’s a great tablet and it’s leaps and bounds ahead of anything out there. But the screen can sometimes creak or feel a little loose. Worried that you need a new one? You don’t. There’s an easy fix you can do in less than five minutes.

You’ll need some sort of pry, like a guitar pick or flathead screwdriver, a towel or blanket, and a small Phillips screwdriver. Keep in mind, you do this at your own risk, but so far there’s no indication this voids your warranty.

First, wedge your pry tool carefully between the backing (the grey “leather” part) and the silver plastic on the side. Carefully lift away the back and set it aside. Put the screen face down on the towel. Around the edge you’ll see some Phillips screws. Tighten up all of them and click the backing back into place.

See, I told you it was easy. If the issue keeps happening, call tech support and go from there, but this tends to fix the issue for many people. Happy tabbing!
