But that’s precisely what happened when I fired up the Eye-Fi Wireless Memory Card for review, mainly because I couldn’t believe how a) ridiculously easy it was to get going and b) how freaking fast the camera sent the photo to my computer.

In case you can’t tell, yes, we are talking about a memory card for your digital camera (you probably have a SanDisk or some such right now) that uploads your photos wirelessly.

How it works is pretty basic: you plug the Eye-Fi USB Card Reader, which comes with an 8-GB memory card to begin with, into your computer. Then you run the setup, which took about 10 minutes (max) on a Mac.

In that process, you’ll get your wireless network approved for the card, and eventually it’ll tell you you’re done, after some basic questions about direct uploads to Facebook, etc.

After that, you pop the Eye-Fi card into your camera and start snapping. If you’re within range of the wireless network, the pics will upload automatically to your computer right after you take them.

If not, you simply fire up the Eye-Fi wireless program and upload whatever you managed to snap straight to your computer.

Why yes, it DOES take the most horrible part of taking digital pictures — picking which ones to transfer — out of the equation, and, yes, it DOES mean no more looking around for your stupid camera cord that somehow is only compatable with that model.

And, at a price of sub-$100, it’s kind of a steal.

What'd you think of this?
