Free WiFi in airports thanks to Skype
Air travel has, especially lately, become pretty hard to take. Ever-rising airline fees, dozens of fees applied to every single ticket, airport security that wants to touch you inappropriately or fry your nards with radiation…it’s hard to take, sometimes. Fortunately, we’ll be able to access all the happy puppy videos we need to calm down from December 21st to December 27th, thanks to Skype.
Obviously, they’re doing this for the promotional considerations, and it’s not unlimited: you only get one hour of free access per hot spot. It’s also not in every single airport: only select ones announced on Skype’s site. One notably missing one: LAX, so we guess Los Angeles will just have to pay for their Internet access.
It’s really designed to allow you to get in touch with friends and family over the Internet when you’re delayed, to let them know that you’ll be late and give them a really good look at you after you’ve been sealed in an aluminum can full of pressurized air for several hours.
Regardless of the limits, it is nice of Skype to try and arrange for us to get in touch with our loved ones if a flight gets delayed. That said, we’re totally using this to play World of Warcraft while we wait at the gate.
