G-Shock phone impossible to destroy, for once
People abuse the living hell out of their personal electronics. They drop them on concrete, fall into toilets, get used as chew toys by dogs, fall out of our pockets into swimming pools, get stomped on by infuriated girlfriends or drunken friends, and on and on and on. True, advances like Gorilla Glass have made once-delicate smartphones much more durable, but realistically speaking, they’re still too easy to break.
Enter Casio’s G-Shock Android phone, the first smartphone that both resembles a hockey puck and can be used as one with no ill effects.
The G-Shock, much like Casio’s similar watch brand, is designed for abuse. It can survive ten feet of water. It can survive a ten foot drop. It can handle a full ton of weight.
And, as a nice touch, it runs Android.
Casio seems an odd entrant into the phone market, but it’s actually been turning out manly phones for manly men for a while now. Witness the slightly sleeker Casio G’Zone Commando, which looks like, well, a manly phone.
Apparently the G-Shock is just a concept, although Casio is aggressively looking to get it onto to the market. We hope it makes it to market soon. We’ve got a hockey game coming up.
