Screen shot 2011 02 02 at 11.06.12 PM Hulu CEO Jason Killar gets hip with his new Viacom situationIs there anything worse than an adult who desperately tries to be hip?

Answer: yes, but only if that adult is the CEO of a major company and is hell-bent on making “Jersey Shore” references in press releases, like Hulu CEO Jason Killar.

Witness this quote from the company’s latest release about Hulu getting back in bed with Viacom:

“We are thankful that Viacom was DTS,” said Jason Kilar, CEO of Hulu, “Our first order of business in the partnership is GTL with Philippe and his team.”

For those not inundated with Jersey Shore lingo, “DTS” means “Down to Snuggle” and “GTL” means “Gym, Tan, Laundy.”

It’s worth noting, of course, that the release means Hulu can now show “Jersey Shore” episodes, so it’s at least somewhat relevant.

It’s also worth noting that the partnership with Viacom now means that Hulu gets to air eps of “The Daily Show” and “Colbert Report” as well, which far more important than a pile of Guidos, even if they won’t be showing up on the site until 21 days after their original airing. (Which isn’t problematic at all for a timely political satire show that mocks the day’s news.)

But that doesn’t mean it’s funny or accurate. The first reference is actually kind of amusing in that it actually make sense. The second, however, is a complete non-sequitur given … the situation.
