Letter opener made of letters is pretty awesome
As a general rule, recycling and being kind to the Earth involves being a giant wuss. You drive a dorkmobile, you eat more “sustainable” foods, and anything resembling masculine design is feared and hated because penises hate the Earth.
Which is why it’s nice to see a letter opener made by a bunch of hippies that still looks like it could f***ing kill you.
You’d be forgiven for thinking this stylish letter opener is something a prisoner made late at night in his cell. Even the designer thinks it looks like a shank. But it’s just a letter opener that makes recycling cool.
The blade is made entirely of two things: Recycled paper and cashew shells. The paper, obviously, makes up the bulk of it while a resin derived from cashew shells makes up the hardening part. Fun fact: cashew nutshell liquid is dermatogenic, meaning your body reacts to it like poison ivy. So even manufacturing this thing is kind of bad-ass. Don’t worry, the blade itself won’t trigger a reaction.
The blade even folds inside the handle. Why can’t all recycled products have a design this amazing?
