Monster’s created the coolest iPod car adapter ever
For the most part, iPod car adapters are worthless. “Oooooh, you mean I only have to find an FM radio station that’s not currently in use by the rest of America to get this thing to play? How easy!” And in a lot of newer models, a simple auxiliary plug will do the trick if the car isn’t pre-wired for iPod plug-and-play.
Yet, Monster seems to have stumbled (or not stumbled, but you get the point) onto something that could be kind of a groundbreaker here — an iPod car adapter that’s motion controlled.
Essentially, the Monster iMotion Carplay 3000 is controlled by a sensor that’s mounted in your car. Swiping your hand left to right over the sensor will skip to the next song, right to left will skip backwards, etc., etc.
The downshot is that you’ll want to make sure that your outlet is in a good spot. If it’s hidden in the trunk, for instance, the iMotion won’t work.
And you’ll definitely want to do that before you shell out the $120 for the iMotion. While it’s clearly more advanced than most tape adapter/car-charger combos and provides plenty of fun and hands-free music controls, it’s still pretty expensive, particularly if you can’t use it efficiently in your ride.
