Nook Tablet gets an 8GB variant
The Nook Tablet is a lot better than the Kindle Fire. For one thing, Barnes and Noble doesn’t care if you root the Nook Tablet. Well, they do, but unlike Amazon, they haven’t been trying to force customers to only run their software. In fact, the Nook being easily hackable made it our favorite cheap tablet.
Unfortunately, most people buying tablets are not tech savvy and are, in fact, your mom, and your mom doesn’t understand that just because Amazon makes something doesn’t mean it’s good. So Barnes and Noble has been losing out to the Kindle Fire, even though it’s vastly technologically superior.
Now they’re firing back.
“Firing back”, in this case, consists of putting out a Nook Tablet with 8GB of memory instead of 16GB for fifty dollars less, making it price competitive with the Kindle Fire.
Why is less more, in this particular case? Well, if you need a cheap tablet, like, say, setting your parents up with one of those poky computer things that you use your fingers with that they’ve heard so, so much about, it’s fairly cheap to buy and easy to set up. Also, if you’re using the Nook primarily for streaming, this makes it a much cheaper and easier option.
The Nook Tablet 8GB will be coming later this year.
