Samsung has patented a perfume spraying phone
The dumb concept of “smell-o-vision” has been with us for way too damn long. There was actually a movie called “Scent of Mystery” back in 1960 trying to push the concept. A decade or so ago, some poor soul tried to push the iSmell. And now Samsung is trying it again with the Perfume Phone.
Granted this perfume spraying phone is just a patent… but it’s still pretty much completely ridiculous. Not to mention awful. The idea is that when you plug your phone into a dock, a sponge in the body absorbs scent producing chemicals. You can set specific scents for specific callers, and the sponge releases the stench.
It’s extremely unlikely that this will ever become a finished product. There’s all sorts of awful ways this thing could go wrong. There’s also the fact that there’s probably no market for a phone that hoses you with stank.
But just in case you know somebody, somewhere, who needs to find the most ridiculous cell phone that has ever been invented, now you finally have a resolution to their quest.
