Street surf with the Bombora

Dan Seitz Contributing Writer, Tech

Increasingly, surfers, skateboarders, and snowboarders are coming together to make hybrid boards that let them practice when there aren’t any waves or snow, but plenty of asphalt. Add paddleboarders to that list, although Kahuna Creations’ Bombora board isn’t just a paddleboard with wheels, but a skateboard practically designed for commuting.

But what’s really distinctive? The shape. This doesn’t look like the longboards you’re used to seeing. It’s shaped like one of Kahuna’s surfboards, and it’s nearly the size of one, too. At five feet long and 14 inches wide, it’s also pretty stable and forgiving. It’s designed to be paddleboarded on land, so if you don’t want to use your feet, your arms can take over.

There are a few problems we’re wondering about. There’s no way this beast doesn’t have to make long turns, and we really wish they’d forgone the surfboard look on top for something either more traditional or at least something that looks grippier. But, hey, it still looks cool.
