‘Tha Business’ card gives muggers the business
Concept designs are a dime a dozen in the gadget world: you’ve got thousands of design students with finals to finish, so you see a lot of neat ideas that never actually happen since it’s just a broke college student’s idea, not a finished product.
Some concepts, though, you root for. Like “Tha Business” card, a self-defense kit that fits in your wallet and basically turns you into a non-lethal badass.
Designed by Hoang and Agh Nguyen, and inspired by credit-card type Swiss Army knives, it’s built so that the individual elements can fit easily in your wallet. Which means your wallet can hold brass knuckles, a small can of mace, a pocket knife, and a whistle, to summon the cops once you’ve sprayed your mugger with a chemical agent, stabbed him, and knocked him unconscious.
The main problem? Not all of this stuff is legal everywhere you go. For example, in Massachusetts, brass knuckles are against the law and you can only carry pepper spray with a special firearms permit (carrying a knife for stabbing people is perfectly OK in the Bay State, in case you were wondering). But we really hope this goes from concept to finished product, if for no other reason than we want to put some brass knucks in our wallet. Those’ll really come in handy the next time we’re stuck behind some jerk at Starbucks sending his coffee back for the third time.
