The JuiceBuddy: A phone charger on your keychain

Being a gadget nerd, I’m a big fan of two things: being prepared for any situation, no matter how ridiculous, and things that are smaller versions of things. So needless to say, the JuiceBuddy hits a sweet spot for me.

The idea is pretty simple: you have an iPhone. It dies. You take out the JuiceBuddy, flip open the cap to reveal an iPhone connector, flip out the prongs, plug it into the wall, and your phone is charging.

Don’t have an iPhone? You’re not completely out of luck. The keychain ring removes to reveal a USB 2.0 port, so you can plug in a USB to micro or mini USB cord. It’s not quite as elegant as the iPhone solution, but that’s because smartphones using USB have ports any damn where they please. If you have a Samsung Galaxy, for example, your phone would have to be plugged in upside down.

The nice thing is, as you may have guessed, that the JuiceBuddy is very portable: you can hang it off a keychain, toss it in your backpack, or stick it in your pocket. You just pull it out when you need it.
