The RAZR Is Back To Challenge the iPhone 4S

droidrazr 640x485 The RAZR Is Back To Challenge the iPhone 4SIn the dark times of the early 2000s, when Paris Hilton was taken seriously and tablet computers were useless, Motorola ruled the cell-phone world with its hot, trendy RAZR. Seriously, remember that thing, and how cool everybody thought it was? Thankfully Apple came along and put an end to that…but the RAZR was lurking, and now it’s back with the ready-to-be-announced Droid RAZR.

Before you ask, no, it’s not a flip phone. So why does it get the sobriquet RAZR? Because it’s thin. Really thin, aside from the “Droid bump” every Motorola Droid seems to have. It’s also got 4G speed (on Verizon, of course) and, for no explicable reason, a Kevlar back. Maybe if you have a Droid, people are compelled to shoot at you?

In addition to its sleek looks, it’s got some great tech under the hood. The brain of this Droid is a dual-core 1GHz processor with 1GB of RAM (rough translation: the games you’ll play on it in waiting rooms will look great). The 4.5 inch screen is nice, especially for those moments when you need to have something to watch. The camera shoots 1080p video, perfect for that moment when you lose that bet and your humiliation must be recorded as an abject lesson for future generations. And it might even be running the latest version of the Android OS, Ice Cream Sandwich, which mostly tells us Google is running out of desserts to name this thing after. What will the next update be: Brownie Sundae with Caramel Sauce?

Our only complaint? The Droid eye. Seriously, Motorola, how creepy are you going to make that thing? We don’t really want our phones to look like they’re thinking about how to hijack NORAD and nuke Cupertino off the map. Especially since they probably are doing that.
