Verizon expanding 4G coverage to the boonies, and also Baltimore, for some reason
Verizon likes to gloat that it has the broadest 3G network of any cellphone provider, which, well, is absolutely true. It’s also a lot more stable. Similarly, its 4G network is pretty amazing stuff, offering broadband level speeds to tiny little objects.
Unfortunately, that was mostly only to the big cities. But now the burbs and the rural areas are going to get a little more pep in their pockets. Also the phones will be faster.
It’s part of Verizon’s big push to get their 4G network up and farther before anyone else’s. Launched over a year ago, Verizon wants to keep its whole “more calls in more places” advantage, which is being helped by Sprint slowly getting up to speed and the AT&T and T-Mobile disaster we laid out has been slowing both down.
So, who are the lucky recipients of 5 to 12 Mbps on their phone, not that it matters because the data plan is tiered anyway?
