VIDEO: Brutus 2.0: An electric bike that moves, still won’t get you anywhere

Dan Seitz Contributing Writer, Tech

Electric motorcycles are like drinking cheap whiskey to us. We know they’re not good for us, we know they won’t do what we really want them to do, we know they’re just too immature out of the barrel… but we can’t help ourselves.

This is why we have our own bench at the drunk tank, and also why we’re drooling over the Brutus 2.0: an electric motorcycle that will get you nowhere, but it’ll get you there fast and you’ll look damn good doing it.

Let’s start with the power: this thing can crack 100mph easily, although the top speeds are a top secret right now. And it looks absolutely amazing: nobody would know you weren’t a badass riding this thing.

Unfortunately, that image will last for precisely one hour, because the Brutus has a range of about 100 miles.

Seriously, why do they keep making electric motorcycles when their range is just so, so terrible. It’s not like we ride motorcycles to be eco-conscious. We ride them because they’re awesome. Come on, guys, we know it’s five hundred pounds, but load in another battery or something.

On the bright side, it’s hand assembled and American made, so there’s that, at least.
