Which can take more of a beating: Nexus 7 or iPad?

A new gadget coming out is like the new kid arriving at a school. Some people greet him warmly, some ignore him, and there’s always that one guy that has to try and beat the crap out of him. The Nexus 7, however, seems to be able to withstand a lot more abuse than you’d expect.

Yes, you just saw them dump both into water. Man, these things are surprisingly durable, huh?

The impressive thing is that the Nexus 7 not only handles all of this, it handles it better than the iPad. Both actually do pretty well in the abuse tests, which are designed to deal with actual situations a person might wind up accidentally putting their tablet in.

It does emphasize that you should get a strong case for your tablet, regardless of which one you choose. But it is nice to see that Google, in addition to making sure the thing was easy to repair, took the time to figure out how to make it reasonably indestructible for the price.
