You can rip someone’s face off, just don’t call anyone a dingleberry
Some hackers decided to crack open and see what was inside the PS3 version of Mortal Kombat. No doubt due to boredom, over not being able to play online. And what they found were… lots of dirty words.
I’m assuming the main intent was to find out what DLC characters are hidden away. BTW, for the three folks out there who still doesn’t know, most of the time when you’re downloading new content, it’s actually already on the disc. Instead of playing a game to death and unlocking stuff the old-fashioned way, now you pay for a tiny hex files that unlocks all that stuff. Progress? Yeah.
Well, in addition to seeing some alternate costumes on the way, along with some Kinecta support code (which is especially odd since, you know, this is the Sony version we’re talking about), was a LONG list of banned words and terms. To see the full list, simply click this link. But I like I said… it’s extremely lengthy, and rather offensive to at least some.
Most of the choices make absolute sense, though there are some surprises. Seriously, people still use the term “honkey” in 2011? Oddly enough, various terms for drugs are banned, we’re talking the actual names and not just slang, like “pcp”, “lsd”, and “psilocybin”. Guess they don’t want any drug deals going during in the middle of a match or something. And pretty much every racist slur you can think of is included, and for good reason.
I guess the most helping thing about the list is the copious amount of naughty terms in other languages as well. So if you’ve ever need to brush up on your Spanish curse words, know yourself out.
