Gamestop wants to sell used downloadable games too

No, you read that correctly. The biggest retail chain for used physical games now wants to peddle used digital games. How in hell would that even work? Good question!

Gamestop

Downloadable games are pretty popular these days. For both the consumer (why waste time/gas/energy dealing with idiot game store clerks when you can find what you want online, and often for the best price) and game makers (making stuff like game discs and instruction manuals are hella expensive, plus they get zero cut out of used game sales).

And you know who hates them? Why, America’s number one resource for physical games, aka Gamestop. Because they make most of their money off of used game sales, and if physical games disappear, so will they. And they know that, hence why they’re currently investigating a way to sell digital games.

That’s basically like selling your mp3s to a used record shop. How is that even possible? We have no idea, but they claim that there’s indeed a way. One that they’re not willing to divulge, nor are they going ahead with such plans quite yet.

According to Gamespot, they state that “it’s not a meaningful business yet”. But rest assured, if there is indeed a way, Gamestop WILL go ahead with such an asinine plan. For all of you who refused to blow 99 cents on Angry Birds, and wishes to spend a far more reasonable price of… say, 86 cents… your day may come soon.

What'd you think of this?
