Are you doing anything different, in the wake of PSNgate?
The PlayStation Network hacking is long behind us, and the days of LulzSec’s tyranny as well. But are we truly safe?
One thing I recently started using, upon the insistence of friends, was 1Password. Which creates ultra hard to crack passwords for all the sites you go to, and then manages them for you. The reason why I waited so long… and why I’m still not 100% in love with it… is I hate the idea of not knowing my passwords off the top of my head. That being said, I was tired changing one password cuz X got hacked into, and of course, I also used the same thing for Y and Z.
Also, that’s just the way it’s going to be; nothing is truly safe anymore. Though others are being more proactive. Case in point: according David Reeves, head of Capcom Europe, there has been a surge in sales for pre-paid PSN cards: “”We have seen on PSN, and probably Sony are in a better place to tell you this, that there is a resurgence in people buying the generic PSN cards in retail stores rather than putting up their credit card details.”
Furthermore: “People are playing it a bit safe at the moment because the hackers will be back [laughs], that’s my personal opinion. I mean…they will right?” And yeah, that’s what everyone is thinking, justifiably so. Anyone else out there changing habits in such a way, gaming or otherwise?
