Because smartphones deserve stupid looking gun attachments as well
Ugly as hell, and ultimately useless add-ons that waste good plastic aren’t just for the Wii anymore.
Coming this summer is the Xappr, from Metal Compass. According to Engadget, it will accommodate iPhones, Androids, and Windows Phones. Even though there are no games on the latter platform that supports it, lol…
… And let’s be honest, I bet there’s at most one or two iOS and Android games, at most, that support it as well. Actually, just checked the official website: three iPhone games are listed, which is far more than expected, but zero for anything of Google’s handsets.
This is just like the iCade, but even dumber. At lest that makes more sense; generally speaking, when you’re playing a game on your television with a fake gun, you’re pretending that thing in your hand is a firearm, so you body treats it as such. Meaning, you’re moving it around, to aim and reload, etc.
So how in the hell are you supposed to keep your eyes on the action if it’s taking place on the phone? I know many Android devices have crazy big displays these days, but seriously.
At this point, it’s rather close resemblance to the shape of a sawed off shotgun means that certain groups will get pissed off upon arrival (provided if it actually happens; all the images are just renders, not of the real thing), and that’s sure to create buzz, and perhaps the dumbest way possible to get attention.
Though making something that’s actually a good idea is hard these days, I realize.
