E3: NYC, you can finally get a Kinect now
And with one simple attachment, Kinect’s potential user base just went up a 9 million.
What you see above you is the Nyko Zoom, which is simply a bunch of wide angle lenses that you attached to the front of the Kinect. With the new pair of eyes, the range of the motion-sensing device is cut by 40%. Meaning, the 6 to 8 feet you’d normally need to play Kinect titles will now only require 4 to 5. Which might not sound like much to folks living in Ohio, but take it from this Manhattanite, every inch counts!
Not sure when it comes, but hopefully soon, and will cost $30. Which sounds like a lot to most, but to us big city folks, that’s like the price of street corner hot dogs these days. Hope the elderly lady downstairs won’t mind all the Dance Central that’s to come!
