Inglourious Basterds the video game? Quite possibly
The Weinstein Company is coming to a console or handheld near you.

It was recently announced that the Brothers Weinstein, Bob and Harvey, are getting into the business of making games, along with some help with a few ex EA and Capcom fellows. So, why does this matter?
Well, the bros know how to make some fine films. Kotaku recently pointed out some possible adaptations, and even though they were responsible for such classics like Hellraiser and Children of the Corn, those are owned by other studios at the moment. Still, there are always future franchises yet to be exploited, and as is, they have a fairly healthy body of work to draw from already.
A quick look at the Wikipedia page shows a nice long list of flicks, some of which could make the transition to video games rather flawlessly. Such as…
Inglourious Basterds – To be honest, not my first choice for a Quentin Tarantino flick made into a game, but alas, Kill Bill was released by the Weinsteins’ previous digs, Miramax. But hey, second choice isn’t bad, and while the whole blowing up Nazis thing is basically passé these days, if people can get excited by Duke Nukem coming back, surely they can get behind this one (provided those Tarantino-esque flourishes are by Tarantino himself). Other games have tried to have army grunts stir trouble up but in a funny way in the past, but it can finally be done right at long last.
Rambo – Those saw the last Rambo flick will tell you that A. it was actually pretty damn amazing, due to B. it being pretty damn bloody. To an almost video game-like degree, and given how some still have fond memories of the part 3′s digital adaptation for the Sega Genesis, perhaps it’s time for the character to make yet another come back? A nice mix of Metal Gear Solid sneaking around and Call of Duty blowing things up real nice.
Grindhouse – Either have dedicated games based onto either Planet Terror or Death Race, or simply include both, for another double bill, To sweeten the pot, maybe have some mini games (or something far more substantial) based upon the fake trailer. Obviously, Machete comes to mind, and an interactive version of Danny Trejo extracting revenge would be absolutely mind-blowing, but the full film adaptation was distributed by 20th Century Fox. Then again, the Weinsteins are no strangers when it comes to teaming up with other studios.
Spy Kids – Yup. The bottom-line is that the Spy Kids flicks were some damn fine children’s movies, especially at a time which most of that stuff is just cutesy, pandering nonsense. They still hold up today, and with a new one on the horizon, what better time for a game tie-in at last? I still don’t understand why there haven’t been any thus far, especially for the last one since it was all about video games. At the very least, this might be the best shot we’ve got for any title to feature Danny Trejo.
