VIDEO: Meet the Arnolds, the world record holding family that digs ‘Pokemon’

Matt Hawkins Contributing Writer, Video Games

The official record is “world’s most successful Pokemon playing family”. Like, for real.

Hey, remember that kid who just nabbed the Guinness for “longest video games marathon playing Dance Dance Revolution”? Well, meet a few other recent inductees; from their photo shoot from the just released Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition 2012

So it’s not just a family in which everyone plays Pokemon, but one in which every member (with the possible exception of the mom) is a competitive player. Which, like many things you may not be aware of, is “serious business.”

Unfortunately, I looked high and low and couldn’t find any footage of any freakout at a Pokemon competition. Strange right? You’d think the internet would be teaming with such nonsense. Instead, I found this video of a popular Pokemon WiFi battler, and his “best of” clip reel. I’d suggest fast-forwarding to 1:48 mark, to witness what constitutes as “humor” among Pokemon fanatics.

25 seconds, that’s how long I was able to hang in there. And yourselves? BTW, back to the Arnolds, if the aforementioned DDR story is any indication, I’m willing to bet that somewhere out there is another family that plays better and harder, yet was somehow overlooked as well.

What'd you think of this?
