North Korea is now causing problems for South Korea on virtual soil
Unable to unify North and South, with that much talked about hostile takeover not happening anytime time soon, Kim Jong-il and his forces have discovered a new battlefield to take on their former countrymen: causing problems in MMOs.
It’s been reported that the bad guy from Team America (by the way, I hope everyone appreciates the fact that I’m the only guy whose written about this story to NOT utilize a shot of the Kim Jong-il puppet, so giving myself points for originally, hope no one minds) has formed an army of hackers to exploit popular Koream MMOs like Lineage and Dungeon Fighter to make some badly needed funds for the poor as hell Communist stronghold.
Apparently they’ve devised software that allows unmanned computers to play continuously and rack up the in-game points. Which are then sold for actual cash. Estimates claim North Korea has managed to rack in about six million thus far in less than two years, which is quite the chunk of change.
Police in Seoul, South Korea’s capital, have thus far arrested five folks who they believe organized the 30 person strong squad of hackers that were operating out of Northern China. Apparently, after taking their 55%, the rest is sent to Pyongyang, North Korea’s capital.
Needless to say, Kim Jong-il and his crew are denying such charges. Oh, and the money that comes in, is to help feed and clothes the poor masses that live in that squalor that their glorious leader has deemed heaven on earth? Of course not; he’s blowing on nuclear weapons and other crap that he indulges in, like Rolex watches and other fine goods.
