One of the very best Zelda games, playable for free, for the time being

For those who lack a 3DS and jonesing for some Zelda action, some good news: Link’s Awakening is playable online and for free! Till Nintendo’s lawyers shows up that is.

Sure it’s not Ocarina of Time, which is the absolute number one Zelda game of all time, but old school Game Boy outing is still the absolute number two, which still ain’t half bad! Similar to that one site that faithfully reproduces old handhelds (and is still up and running, which is an absolute miracle), you can play the Game Boy Color version via your browser. Provided it supports HTML5. Which Safari and Chrome does for sure (not entirely sure about Firefox… perhaps version 5 that just came out does it with no fuss or muss… and don’t know about Internet Explorer, but my gut says no dice).

Simply click here to get the adventure started! I’m afraid I haven’t played long enough to see if save functionality is supported… and trust me, the game is LONG, even by Zelda standards… but hey, it’s still a great way to blow the rest of your first weekend at work, right?
