‘RAGE’ packs a massive punch that your puny consoles will be able to barely handle

RAGE has a lot to offer, but will be asking a lot from gamers as well. Like their patience for one.

You know how I’m always saying how it’s awesome that the PS3 and the 360 are sticking around, cuz hardware has yet to be maxed out, since graphics keep getting better and better and better?

Well, it’s definitely true, but there’s one area that’s somewhat necessitating the arrival of the PS4 or Xbox 720 sooner than later. Basically drive speed and media capacity, respectively.

Let’s take Bethesda Softworks/id Softworks’ long-awaited ode to Mad Max and MotorStorm for example. When it finally arrives early next month, console gamers will have plenty to bitch about. First off, for Xbox 360 users, your copy will come in 3 DVDs. Meanwhile, the PS3 version will have an 8 gig installation. Yikes.

To be honest, I really don’t mind switching discs too much. Sure it’s annoying, but not a deal breaker. Now, the 8 gig install, that’s where we have problems. I for one really regret getting my system early on, cuz my paltry 80 gig drive, which was the largest option at the time, means yet another instance in which I have to wipe out a huge chunk of data from a previous game.

Which also means that I basically can’t play two games at once; I have to pick which one I want to spend most of the my time, lest I go back and forth with data installing. Hey, remember when consoles meant a plus and play, no nonsense game playing experience, especially when compared to PCs? Yeah, I miss those days as well.

What'd you think of this?
