Sony actually delivers; PSN is back 100% (kinda)
Many, including myself, didn’t believe Sony’s promise that the rest of the PlayStation Network, specifically the Store, would be back this week. Well it is! Though it’s still slow as hell.
Upon hearing the news early this morning, first thing I did was try and download Arcana Heart 3, as I’ve been bitching about in every PSNgate post since the first one. And… No dice. Got a stupid error. lulz
As Destructoid pointed out, it perhaps should come as little surprise to hear that something everyone has been dying to access would be slow as sh*t upon arrival, due to everyone trying to get it at once. It was even suggested that one could simply sit there like an idiot and keep hitting that X button in hopes of not getting error message, and basically be part of the problem.
Guess what? I was one of those people. Why? It would have been one thing if it didn’t let me halfway in; the system wouldn’t let me redeem my game, but it sure as hell had no problems charging my credit card. Which needless to say caused much furious yelling and screaming and bitching on Twitter. Eventually, as the congestion lessened, my game began to download. Took over an hour, despite being only 2 gigs, which is how fast the PSN is normally for me. So back to business as usual indeed!
No word yet on about the aforementioned Welcome Back package, nor the free month of PlayStation Plus. Re: the latter, I’m DYING to know how thing is. Because slow-ass download speeds is one thing when it’s free, but if you’re playing for it…
If things continue to go as planned, expect everyday to see a new batch of content to nab, in an effort to play catch-up. That is until the hackers take the whole thing down again. Which you just know is gonna happen.
