VIDEO: Blizzard has been working on stuff

Matt Hawkins Contributing Writer, Video Games

BlizzCon is happening this very second. That’s the annual convention that Blizzard Entertainment throws to celebrate their games and their fans. Two new things were unveiled, some bombshells were also dropped, plus much patting on the back in general went down as well. All of whhich we have footage of.

First is for those of you who play World of Warcraft. Or specifically, those that still do. It’s no secret that the numbers of subscribers have been declining, so here’s Blizzard’s attempt at trying to get some customers to come back, in the form of a brand new expansion: Mists of Pandaria

… You know, not to be a wise-ass, but it just seems to be, after going into outer space to battle otherworldly demons, or venturing into the depths of hell to conquer the undead, mingling about panda people seems a bit anticlimactic, but there’s a lot about WOW that I have never understood. Also, the level cap of the game has been raised to 90, plus there’s a new pet battle system and a new talent system. Whatever the hell those mean.

Next is the latest look at StarCraft 2‘s Heart of the Swarm expansion…

… Holy sh*t, it’s got Transformers! But seriously, I also have zero familiarity with StarCraft, but after watching the clip trailer above, I seriously want to give it a shot. Though I know my console-raddled brain might not be able to handle the game’s complexities.

Third up is the latest look at Diablo 3

… The big news here is how those who subscribe to WOW‘s annual pass will have access to Diablo 3 for totally free! Man, they must really be missing the WOW revenue that they used to enjoy. Anyhow, this year also marks 15 year anniversary of the series, which Blizzard decided to note with this video retrospective…

And finally, what’s a fan fest without some fan service? Thus we have Blizzard’s take on Super Smash Bros (kinda)…

What'd you think of this?
