VIDEO: Even boss battles are being outsourced these days

If you’re a fan or Deus Ex: Human Revolution, cue you best “They took our jobs!” impersonation.

Pretty much everyone that’s played the latest Deus Ex will say the same thing: the boss battles totally blow. They also seem really out of place, plus other things. Well, now the exact reason has been revealed; they were handled by a totally separate team.

Here’s a clip that’s been around for a little while, but which has only recently come to light, via Rock, Paper, Shotgun

… I love how the president of this outside party flat out admits in the first minute or so that he’s a first person shooter guy and that he had zero familiarity with the franchise. Nice.

So one natural question is “Well, why did they get chosen to contribute in the first place? Maybe they did some awesome stuff in the past?” Well, I’ve combed through GRIP Entertainment’s website and can find anything, other than creating tool to aide in the art of game creation.

But when it comes to actual game design (which are two totally separate thing; it’s like the difference between an actor and a director, simply put), I can’t find credentials anywhere. Strange…

What'd you think of this?
