VIDEO: It may not be obvious, but this guy playing ‘Skyward Sword’ is totally bad-ass
It’s also helps to cement the fact that we’re finally getting a Wii game in which mindlessly swinging your arms around will do you no good. Thank goodness.
As noted an hour ago, Capcom had the hottest game at the New York Comic Con, arguably, and their packed as hell booth easily reflected this fact. The wait to play Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom was an hour at least, one that I wasn’t willing to deal with, since I suck so bad that I would literally lasted 3 seconds. Though Nintendo’s was also insanely crowded, which didn’t matter so much to me, since they mostly had everything I’ve gone over already in a few weeks back, including the new Zelda.
Hopefully everyone remembers what I said about the combat, e.i. how movement in the real world reflected on-screen to a staggering degree. Resulting in far tricker to play experience than any previous Wii offering, yet one that’s also so much more satisfying. Hence why the following, shot earlier this weekend, is so impressive; it’s some dude not getting hit, even once, during this boss encounter…
… It just sucks that we can’t see how he’s holding and moving the controller, to contrast and compare what’s happening on-screen. Anyhow, pretty much everyone I’ve spoken to had the same experience and impression with the game initially: it’s kinda awkward.
But after thinking about, allowing the experience to sink it, it’s the one game that we’re drying to in terms of taking a big bite and getting lost in the details, and at the comfort of our own homes, without a crowded show floor to break one’s concentration, nor a time limit imposed by some Nintendo rep (for obvious reasons). Basically, any complaints one might be hearing about the game… take it with a grain of salt.
