VIDEO: It’s a guy beating ‘Mega Man 2’, accompanied by a band
This kind of stuff is actually fairly pedestrian for MAGFest, aka the “Woodstock of video games”.
Last weekend was the aforementioned celebration of video game music, a yearly event that has official hit installment number ten. In addition to guests (this year’s highlight was Nobuo Uematsu, best known for scoring Final Fantasy), it’s mostly chiptuners (who create and perform original music via game hardware, mostly Game Boys) and cover bands (who re-create famous game soundtracks with conventional instruments).
Like the Bit Brigade. Who instead of just playing various tunes from Mega Man 2, got a dude to play the game, from start to finis, and provided the soundtrack in real time. So this much is known, right up front: it takes less than 45 minutes to beat. Feel free to go back to work with the following playing in the background…
As far as video game cover bands, these guys aren’t half bad. And once again, the music from Mega Man 2 simply cannot be beat. Though Mega Man 3‘s is slightly better.
