VIDEO: It’s another hipster ditty about video games, but with a catch

… It’s actually not about video games. At all.

Like many adult males in his thirties, I am woefully out of touch with the music of today. I hate to sounds like everyone’s dad, but seriously, music was better back in the day. Well, the mainstream stuff at least.

Hence why I didn’t watch The Grammys last night, even though I wish I had witnessed the Beach Boys reunion live. Like anyone who only listen’s to old people music, I’m a huge fan, but I’m also aware of the splendors of modern technology, i.e. how anything good can be found on YouTube.

But didn’t they have that guy who beat the crap out of his girlfriend? Didn’t they also give him and award? Yet another reason why I could give a rat’s ass about today’s music.

With all that said, was Lana Del Ray also on? Sorry for being late to the party, but I only just discovered this chick when a pal of mine passed along the following, since I have a thing for hipsters who do music related to video games.

Though the preface of “i don’t suppose you’ve written about lana del ray’s “video games” song, have you? i just heard it and it is the biggest tumblr-nerd baiting garbage ever. she is The Worst.” was hardly encouraging. Anyhow, it’s from last year and has a billion views. Again, no idea how I missed this the first time…

Granted, it doesn’t cash in old school, 8-bit gaming like so many others out there, but it would have been nice to have something relating to title of the song.

But because I suck at deciphering lyrics, I decided to look them up, to see if I was missing anything. Nope. I also live the first comment: “master piece”

And there’s plenty others that echo the statement. Once more, kids today…
