VIDEO: Latest Mortal Kombat: Legacy finally gets to the goods
And by that I mean the two dudes that everyone knows and loves (and picks all the time): Scorpion and Sub-Zero.
Unlike the episode featuring Kitana and Mileena, which also took us away from the real word, this one does the job better of depicting another place and time by simply not resorting to lame ass sub-DeviantArt and having far better digital backgrounds. Also the pacing, casting, and basic story is also a bit more engaging.
I also like this brand new take of Scorpion’s outfit, making it feel more like legit ninja garb than what we’ve grown accustomed to. I know some have already taken offense to how the Lin Kuei (that’s the blue colored bad guy ninjas that have always been a thorn in the side of the yellow dude) are no longer Chinese. In fact, even the name Bi-Han (aka the original Sub Zero, who eventually is killed and replaced by his younger bro Kuai Liang, whose original name was Tundra, which is in fact the original name for the character until one of the men behind arcade original saw the Running Man and liked the name of one of Arnold’s opponents, sans the hyphen; I sure know my Mortal Kombat, don’t I?) is a Chinese name. But hey, considering ninjas are more of a Japanese thing anyway, as well as how in part three of the game, Sub-Zero turns out to be a white guy, diehards need to simply relax.
Granted, I was really hoping for Scorpion to be just like the guy we saw in original pilot, but hey, beggars can’t be choosers. Can’t wait for the follow-up! Oh, and btw; last time I had Scorpion rapping, so here he is playing the MK theme via the accordion…
