VIDEO: Latest Mortal Kombat: Legacy gets mystical and stuff
Matt Hawkins The latest episode of the live-action Mortal Kombat web series is here, and… It’s a stark contrast of the action-driven, in the real world antics. Also, it’s quite clear that they’re running out of money!
After the high that was Johnny Cage last week, one can’t help but be disappointed. Not only was Baraka’s origin in the concept pilot WAY cooler (aka a deranged plastic surgeon, and not just a foot soldier like in the games originally), but his new make-up totally blows in comparison.
Anyhow, you just know that whenever anime-esque cut scenes are used to highlight action… sub-par, Deviant Art grade anime to be exact…. the budget is close to depletion. And sorry, but after enjoying the world of Mortal Kombat in the real world, to see it all blue screen out (which was an inevitability, yet I was hoping for it being somewhat later down the road, near the series’ end) is another huge downer. But also, it’s not very well done, and the fighting also kinda sucks.
But hey, at least Kitanna’s mom is totally hot. Can’t wait to see her all white-haired and screaming. Okay not really. Well, unless we finally get some Sub Zero and/or Scorpion action next week, I might have to bail on this web series.
