VIDEO: LOL old people
Young, snot-nosed punks aren’t the only ones who play video games. There’s also old, leaky nosed grandmas and grandpas as well.
First off, in addition to pissing everyone off with pre-order exclusive DLC that threatened to make Battlefield 3 unbalanced for everyone else (which thankfully got called off), EA also pulled all their games out of Steam for their own digital distribution network. And at least one granny ain’t please (waning: NSFW audio)…
… Hey, at least she’s happy about the Battlefield 3 thing, right? Chances of the vid being some put on orchestrated by grandsons that actually game? 50%
Next is another elderly person that’s also concerned with Battlefield, but actually plays it. At 66 years old, “Wacko Jacko” is supposedly the world’s oldest Bad Company 2 player…
… Again, seems legit. Though the PS3 controller definitely raises some eyebrows. Then again, makes sense that an older gentleman might be more comfortable with a compact controller than some big ass, and hard to swallow (even for some of us youngins) keyboard and mouse control scheme. Chances of it also a some put on by his grandson? Even lower.
But ultimately, the one video game system that’s actually found a home at nursing centers across the country is the Wii, which provides healthy low-impact exercise for many of our most treasured citizens. Though something telling me that watching old people Wii Bowling might not be the most exciting thing in the world (unless something bad happens, and then it’s just plain not funny… to most), how about some Just Dance 2 instead….
… I could have also tried finding a Wii Fit video starring an old lady, but that would have been a total disaster me thinks.
Though watching old people play video games could actually be a serious form of entertainment. There have been various attempts at putting game playing on television, and none have been successful. Gee, I wonder why the idea of watching some 14 years old hotshot dorks totally plow through Halo wasn’t gotten monster ratings on G4, hence the need for Star Trek and Cops. But if the players were older and not as annoying/featured skill levels that weren’t as threatening, now that’s a formula for success. Perhaps it could be similar to this; just image video games instead of general computer abilities being tests.
