VIDEO: ‘Mega Man 2′ in HD… and we’re talking really HD

The problem with actual HD remakes is that they never look as amazing as the following.

So there’s this guy “on the internet” who likes to remake game intros, but go all out and make them super modern and super sexy. He’s been doing it for a while, and his latest is easily his greatest. For those who believe that Mega Man 2‘s visuals are perfect and don’t need to be fiddled with, I agree, but still, the following kicks all sorts of ass…

Once again, my problem with official HD remakes is that they just don’t go far enough. Sure there’s no need to really mess with perfection, but games like Shadow of the Colossus and Metal Gear Solid 3 looked the best on the PS2 because they were optimized for the system. Put them elsewhere, sans some of the blurriness that was actually used to great effect, and you have something that looks not as interesting in the end.

Here’s another great example: this fan produced Sonic in HD tribute got all sorts of people hot and bothered once it hit the YouTubes…

Too bad, much like the first clip, it’s not real. But this, on the other-hand, actually is…

As with the first Sonic clip, the primary reaction is “why can’t the new Sonic games look like this!?!?!” Though the above looks rather garish in my opinion. Personally, I much rather dig this…

Though honestly, the latest full-fledged Sonic console release, Sonic Generations, looked AMAZING. In parts, it’s like a CGI cartoon in motion, kid you not. Too bad it plays like ass. Anyhow, one more from the creator of the very first vid, his loving tribute to Contra
