VIDEO: Mortal Kombat: Legacy returns to form thanks to the god of thunder

And no, I’m not talking about Thor (which I saw this past weekend btw; surprisingly great flick). I’m talking about Raiden, who makes the Mortal Kombat web series all of a sudden worth checking out.

As some might recall, I had pretty much given up all hope on Mortal Komnbat: Legacy, after part two of the snooze-fest that was Kitana and Mileena. And as you’ll see, this latest chapter opens up with a somewhat defensive statement from the director, which basically spelled trouble. Thankfully what follows is well worth the time and effort…

Of all the installments we’ve seen thus far, this latest with Raiden feels the closest the original pilot, and is on par with the Johnny Cage one in terms of execution and delivery. It’s become abundantly clear where the director’s strength lies: firmly entrenched in reality, with the fantasy elements sprinkled about. It’s also somewhat apparent that the negative feedback; I certainly wasn’t the only one who found the previous two chapters to be disappointing as hell.

Hopefully Sub Zero and Scorpion will be similar to what we saw in episode 0, and not a return to green screen background land. And on a related note… and truth be told, I was expecting this week’s installment to be such a bomb that I had something else lined up to show. But will pass it along anyway; it’s Scorpion rapping…

For those who don’t get the joke, it’s a parody of this…

What'd you think of this?
