VIDEO: Perhaps the best Half-Life fan flick ever just got a sequel
Considering how most fake movies based on games are generally just trailers to some larger thing that will never happen, to excuse themselves from creating a narrative it’s rare when something is both cohesive and gets a follow-up.
Best part is how it’s for one of the finest of its kind, something Half-Life fans should more than be familiar with. But for those who aren’t familiar with Escape From City 17, here’s part one…
Some context: it was filmed in total guerrilla fashion, with zero crew. The budget? Pretty much nonexistent, just $500 (though that doesn’t include previous capital). Valve was so impressed by the work of the Purchase Bros that Valve actually flew them up to Seattle to tell them, to their faces, how awesome they are! Anyhow, two years later, here’s part two…
Get this: the budget this time was actually half! Some nightly powerful software was tapped into, but it was all donated (perhaps the fancy new camera as well, but I’m not certain). Anyhow, can’t wait for part three in 2013, made on a budget of $5!
