VIDEO: Phoenix Wright is looking to be gaming’s next big superstar
While already a hit, Capcom is looking to position the so-called “Ace Attorney” to be their next big superstar (especially since they clearly have no love left for Mega Man).
First off, as noted previously, Phoenix Wright is coming to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom, and he’s absolutely unlike anything you’ve ever seen in any fight game, whatsoever. But to really break it down, here we have yet another installment of Assist Me, which some might recall me highlighting about a month ago. It would seem that Capcom was so impressed that they brought the dudes behind them on board officially. You’ll also learn about Iron Fist, if you’re so inclined…
Though the real proof that Phoenix Wright is set to blow up is how he’s going to star in his own live action flick! Well, in Japan at least…
It should be noted that the guy directing it is Takashi Miike. Perhaps you’ve seen his previous movies, like Audition, Sukiyaki Western: Django, and Ichi the Killer…
Which basically means that there’s a good chance that it’ll be really awesome (unlike most video game to movie adaptations these days). Miike actually made a movie based upon the Yakuza games. It too was pretty damn awesome, easily the best of its kind (which sadly, virtually no one outside the US has seen, unless one frequents Asian film festivals)…
Back to Phoenix Wright; he’s also set to co-star in a 3DS game with another portable superstar, Professor Layton…
Apparently publishing rights are in Capcom’s hands; they’re apparently trying to gauge interest and see if it’ll be worth bring to America. There’s a good chance that they’ll say yes, given how popular both characters are. But then again… everyone thought they were serious about Mega Man Legends 3, and we all know how that went.
