VIDEO: Reaching the top of that mountain, one Xbox Live Achievement at a time

Matt Hawkins Contributing Writer, Video Games

There’s a guy, Raymond Cox, and his goal is to one day have a 1,000,000 point strong gamer score on Xbox Live. Well, he just hit the 600,000 mark; check out how he’s come just that much closer to greatness.

Right up front, it should be noted that there’s a LOT of controversy surrounding the very concept of gamer scores. Many feel folks are simply playing games for the sake of those errand points, and both not enjoying games for the right reasons, along with giving crap games the time of day that they don’t deserve. And to be honest, I’m somewhat in that camp, yet, I can’t help feel a bit inspired by the following…

… Or at the very least, not as annoyed as I should be. Though ultimately, it’s probably just the Rocky music. That’s it actually. By the way, here he is hitting the 500,000 mark…

… It should be noted that this previous milestone was achieved nine months ago, so he has a ways to go! For those interested in following Cox’s progress, here’s his blog. As of this writing, he has a score of 600,081. Which demonstrates how hard it must have been to hit a nice even number; I took have a random odd digit at the end of my (comparatively anemic) score that I have no idea how I got. But if there’s a way to even things out, Cox is the dude to do it.
