VIDEO: Someone finally made a sequel to ‘Snake’ and it is awesome

Matt Hawkins Contributing Writer, Video Games

What do you do with a game like Snake that was simply about eating stuff, growing big, and not touching yourself? You grow a hand on your ass, destroy helicopters, and fight someone else’s huge ass, which also shoots ninja stars.

There’s still eating involved, by the way. Denny’s to be exact. Anyhow, behold Snake2; it all kinds of amazing…

The thing you see above was created in only 48 hours, as part of the 2012 Global Game Jam, in which scores of indie game makers try to assembled a title, from start the to finish, in just two days. And the results in this case speak for themselves!

For those interested, here’s a clip of the game’s creators, introducing it at their local jam. Watching people present games can sometimes can be painfully boring, but not so much here. Though whomever demoing it was not nearly as good as the player above. But for those who haven’t experienced it, playing a game in front of a crowd can be nerve-racking…

And for those who want to give Snake2 a spin themselves, it can be downloaded here.

Now, here’s the deal; there actually was an official sequel to Snake, not too long ago. By Nokia, who created the original. It was for their ultimately doomed N-Game 2.0 game platform. I had a N81 back in the day and have first hand experience with it. Here’s the game in motion (which was really awesome, by the way)…

What'd you think of this?
