VIDEO: Super Mario 3 with a jazzy soundtrack, done in real time
Okay, so there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the original soundtrack to Super Mario 3, and I’m not the biggest fan of smooth jazz either. But it’s at least somewhat impressive. The real-time part that is.
Basically, the music is played live, on the spot. Which you can really tell when all the 1UP chimes pop up during… Well, see and hear for yourself…
There are definitely worse attempts at jazz, you have to admit. Hopefully you stuck in there till the 5:55 and 9:10 marks for the nice little surprises. And one can’t help but be blown away by the total ease in which the player plows through one of the hardest worlds ever in a Mario game (so if you honestly can’t stomach the audio, just hit the mute button and enjoy the expert game playing).
Hey, that reminds me of another on the spot musical performance related to a video game thing. Something called Modal Kombat…
For those who don’t know what’s going on, the acoustic guitars are hooked up to I believe a N64 running Mortal Kombat Trilogy (saw them last summer), which are all hacked and modified of course. They also played Tetris in a similar manner, but sadly, I can’t seem to find any YouTube videos of this anywhere.
