VIDEO: Time to check out 2011′s top candidate for game of the year
As well as 2001′s GOTY, plus 2005′s, in HD glory.
First, an ad for Resistance 3 that just began airing on national television. And since most folks simply watch Netflix or Hulu on their displays if they’re not playing games, like myself, it might be easy to miss the following…
Remember, that’s all in-game, no cut scenes, period. And man, what a great year for PS3 owners; Resistance 3 already, with Uncharted 3 real soon, plus also those aforementioned HD revamps of classic titles. Like the Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection.
Truth be told, and I think I’ve said as such already, but I wasn’t too keen on the idea of such a collection, because what made the originals so awesome is how far it pushed the original hardware. All the slowdown wasn’t due to lazy programming but folks truly pushing the boundaries, so it was a like badge of honor.
But one look at the update and one can’t help but kick such fanboy ideals to the curb. Here’s the Japanese ad Ico HD…
And for SotC HD (both are being sold separately in Japan)…
BTW, I’ve actually played the game, and can attest to how awesome the updates are! This was at a press function a couple weeks back, and they even had it running on a 3D display. Truth be told, another reason why I was against the port is how it was simply that, a port. Existing assets were simply going to be re-used, no real updating whatsoever. Not that there’s anything wrong with the original visuals, they clearly look even better with a cleaner output, but it would be nice to see things updated even more so.
Yet with everything coming at you, in 3D, I hardly thought about such matters. Yet the sad truth is, most will also not be able to enjoy the game in such a manner. Anyhow, Uncharted 3 comes out on 1st of November, and the Ico/SotC Collection is due later this month, on the 27th!
