VIDEO: Valve apparently supports the efforts of hipster d-bags
Sad but true, as evidenced by their choice of winning entry for a Portal 2 music video contest they recently held.
The contest revolved around the song Exile Vilify, the “theme song” for Portal 2′s Rat Man. Valve asked everyone to create their own tribute music vid and countless folks jumped at the chance to win a ton of schwag, plus a guitar signed by The National, which is the band that crafted the song. The three winning videos were recently revealed, and before going straight to number one, let’s first check out the third place winner…
Not bad. Actually, pretty damn good, easily on par with many official videos for bands. Also, the above is technically the second place winner, with a tie-way time for the top spot. Here’s the “1.00000000001th” winner, which borrows elements from the Portal 2 prequel comic…
Basically, Valve couldn’t decide between the one above and another clip for the number one slot, to the point that the band was brought in to be a tie-breaker. So perhaps the title of this post is unfair, because maybe The National are the ones’s to blame for the following getting top honors…
You known my feelings about Wes Anderson is a lot like Grand Theft Auto; I have no person with the director himself, but the crap he inspires makes me want to my head in a gigantic Magic Bullet. Talk about insipid, lazy, AND emo, the worst of all combinations.
