VIDEO: Wannabe filmmakers make a good (or bad) game better sometimes
Duke Nukem Forever isn’t the only long awaited sequel to come out this week that apparently blows. The new Alice game also misses the mark I hear (though not as spectacularly). But at least it helped to inspire this somewhat decent fan film.
My original complaints towards Alice: Madness Returns still stands btw, and the live action take is just as silly art school b.s. as the game. But hey, the girl that stars in it is kinda cute. Also, the whole thing is just very well done!
Fan films sure have come far over the years. I remember the Pac Man live action adaptation was the measuring stick. It’s still quite amusing, though times have clearly changed…
What changed exactly? Tech simply became more powerful and more affordable (or more easily accessible). And with, standards also rose, across the board. Take a look at this fake Mega Man trailer from 2006, around the same time as the Pac Man clip…
Then compare it to another from four years later…
But sometimes, even with what’s available and creative casting isn’t strong enough. Hence why other elements are often thrown into the mix…
Though personal fave will always be Legend of Zelda as a John Hughes flick…
Oh, I guess I should also mention hipster Super Mario, even though it’s so good that it gives me douchechills…
